Common interpretation maxims

 There are some common principles or presumptions as regards  legislation which are usually expressed in latin maxims which are resorted to in interpreting words in contexts in which they appear. They are explained below.  1. The ejusdem generis principle  : This principle shows that in a situation where there is a list of things which fall under an identical class,  followed by a general word, the scope of the general words is restricted to things belonging to the class to which all the specific or particular fall. You can consider this as a case of common noun and proper nouns..  let's say the law provides that biros,pencils and markers and all other writing aids should not be used. Such law covers other writing materials not listed here. 2 .Expressio unis est exclusio atterius : the express mention of a thing is to the exclusion of others. Buhari’s impeachment case over WAEC certificate adjourned till November 26 A case seeking for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari over alleged non possession of his West African Examination Council, WAEC, certificate  and other qualifying credentials has been adjourned till November 26 by Justice Maureen Onyetenu-led Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state. Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), In the suit, filed on June 19, accused president Buhari of violating the provisions of the 1999 constitution but not possessing the required qualifications to contest for the presidency. The suit has the National Assembly, Senate President and the Speaker, House of Representatives as co-defendants alongside President Buhari as the 4 th  defendant. Tekno Expresses Gratitude for Daughter Skye. In 2017 Tekno and Nigerian-born British singer Lola Rae sparked dating rumours which they confirmed in July.  Fast forward almost a year after, and the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby girl they named Skye.
